Nanny accused of dumping children in unlicensed day care

L.A. officials say she told multiple parents in Hancock Park and Larchmont that she was taking their children to outside activities. Instead, she left them at a Hollywood apartment.

Nanny at Veteran's Park, Culver City, Today

I was running by Veteran's Park (Overland and Culver) at 9am and saw
a nanny with a little girl. The nanny grabbed the girl and spanked
her twice. She was yelling at the sobbing girl, "I told you not to
take your shoes off!" She looked up and saw me loop back towards her
and stopped. I ran over and asked if everything was ok. She
wouldn't answer me and I wasn't sure what to do, so I thought I would
walk into the building and find a phone to call the police (I
remember a Peachhead mom suggesting this), but as I started towards
the building, she took off across the field with the child.

The nanny was in her 40s, short hair, Hispanic, wearing white capri
pants and a grey zip up sweatshirt. The child was between 2-3,
shoulder length dark, straight brown hair, brown eyes. She was
wearing a brown zip up sweatshirt.

I feel like I should have done more, but wasn't sure what else to do.
My nanny is heading to the park now to do recon and see if they came
back and if she can find out her name.

Was this your nanny and your precious son (horror story)?

I've never posted one of these "I saw your nanny" things, but
something I saw today has me really upset and hoping that we can find
a little boy's parents and tell them this story. I work at the
Howard Hughes Center (where the Bridge theater is) and at lunch
today, my girlfriend and I walked by an outdoor table where a nanny
was talking on her cell phone while a beautiful 2-ish year old boy
with blond curly hair was standing near her. For whatever reason,
she yanked on his arm, causing him to crash forehead first (hard!)
into the corner of the wood table and then he fell to the ground,
crying hysterically. She grabbed him by the arm again and yanked him
up, ignoring his tears, and never once stopped her phone conversation
or comforted the boy or even looked at him. It was beyond
heartbreaking. Afraid to intervene (I know, I should grow a pair),
my friend and I went into lunch. When we came out a half hour later,
the nanny was still there, STILL on her phone, and the boy was just
staring into space sitting in his umbrella stroller. Here are the
details I remember: the little boy was white, with blond curly hair,
around 2, wearing a khaki green and white striped shirt and khaki
green pants. He had a beige/brownish umbrella stroller, maybe a
Graco. The nanny was African-American, middle age (it was hard to
tell with the hat...could have been 40's even to 60's) wearing blue
jeans, a blue jean jacket/shirt and a black hat with white "racing
stripes" on it. I think she had a black knapsack with the same white
stripes. She was wearing big gold hoop earrings and had a gold band
on her left ring finger. Could she have been your nanny with your
beautiful, sweet boy? Could you know someone whose nanny or little
boy fits this description? It was so sad and I just can't stop
thinking about it. Pass this on to anyone that might have had their
child with this woman today and needs to see this.

Northridge Mall-girl about 4 y.o.

I've posted this on Peachhead and CityMommy and someone recommended your site as well. I really hope this gets to the right parents!!!

I don't know if I have enough information to make a difference here. All I know is that if this was my nanny I would certainly want to know. So I hope this helps...
While at the Northridge Mall this afternoon I witnessed a girl playing in the play area while her "nanny" slept. She was actually asleep. These play areas are not enclosed and the girl could easily have slipped out and been long gone before her nanny woke up to notice.
I didn't get any names, unfortunately. But here is a description of the girl:
About 4 years old. She was either Hispanic or Asian- with dark hair in a ponytail. She had a long sleeved pink shirt that read "Look For The Bare Necessities" from the Jungle Book. Blue jeans with pink embroideries. When they left she put on a white fuzzy jacket and a Disney princess backpack.
The nanny was wearing a bright green goose-down like vest jacket and carrying a gold purse.

With two small kids of my own I've experienced how quickly they can get out of your sight. And if a nanny is falling asleep in a public place what could they be doing in your home when no one is watching?
